The role
• Supporting the finalisation of Annual Report & Accounts and USSIM/USSL statutory accounts
• Supporting the finalisation of year end external audit
• Preparation / finalisation of multiple SPV statutory accounts
 
Key responsibilities
Annual Report & Accounts
• Completing activities transitioned from the Assistant financial controller related to the finalisation of the accounts
• Updating the financial statements and supporting narrative for final data and other amendments
• Ensuring the data verification file is maintained on a timely basis to ensure accuracy and completeness of verification information

USSIM/USSL statutory accounts
• Completing activities transitioned from the Assistant financial controller related to the finalisation of the accounts
• Updating the financial statements and supporting narrative for final data and other amendments.

SPV statutory accounts
For a selection of the SPVs as allocated by the Investment Accounting Manager:
• Preparation of final trial balance and preparation of statutory accounts
• Preparation of interim trial balance and draft management accounts on a timely basis
• Execute defined controls, policies and procedures and monitor and address compliance issues on a timely basis
• Performing appropriate calculations and providing accounting information to support SPV distributions.

SPV financial accounting
For a selection of the SPVs as allocated by the Investment Accounting Manager:
• Review and finalisation of SPV statutory accounts and co-ordination of external audit and filings

Scheme quarter end
• Support the collation of information to enable preparation of quarterly scheme accounts reporting pack including narrative and supporting analysis of variances

Ad hoc:
• Supporting the Investment Accounting Manager with the development of processes and systems capable of generating consistent and meaningful reporting of SPVs
 
Your experience
• Excellent technical accounting knowledge and application experience in production of statutory accounts
• A credible finance professional capable of interpreting and representing the organisation’s interests in discussions and challenges with auditors
• A self-motivated individual who works collegiately within the team
• Knowledge and experience of financial systems, accounting processes and controls
• Strong service improvement focus to drive changes in practice or behaviours
• Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work in a manner that is consistent with the organisation’s ethos and values
• Knowledge and experience of investments and SPVs
• Knowledge of pensions industry
• Knowledge and experience of project management tools and techniques
• Experience of managing third party accounts preparation providers
• Experience of managing external audits
